VITO is making full use of its research programme ‘Sustainable Materials Management’ in order to speed up the transition to a circular economy. We are convinced that, in addition to technological innovations, wider social innovations by policymakers and companies are also crucial for this transition. This is why we are developing frameworks and tools for public authorities and for the industry to ensure that the potential of the circular economy is further unlocked.
  • You work as part of a team on research projects that map out the underlying mechanisms of the circular economy. You convert knowledge gained into concrete tools and methods, for example regarding the innovation of business models.
  • Based on our own developments and insights, combined with state-of-the-art tools, you advise companies and authorities to identify and unlock their potential in the circular economy.
  • You are passionate about circular economy and have the expertise necessary to approach issues from a systemic perspective.
  • You are able to develop project proposals with an international consortium and act as project leader, for example in the context of Horizon 2020.
  • You expand your network further on an international level with a view to exploring new opportunities for VITO in the field of the circular economy. You also contribute to drawing up tenders for industrial clients and authorities.
  • You present and publish the project results on (inter)national forums and ensure that your fellow team members also gain knowledge regarding this theme.
  • You hold a Master’s degree, preferably in (Applied) Economics or Sciences. A doctorate is a bonus.
  • You are motivated to work in a context of sustainability and circular economy.
  • You can synthesise results into implementable recommendations for authorities and industrial clients.
  • You have a client-focused attitude and an eye for opportunities. You are an enthusiast and an entrepreneur.
  • You take initiative and are a teamplayer.
  • You are also a creative, hands-on and flexible thinker with a scientifically critical attitude.
  • You have strong communication skills and are able to express yourself clearly in English and Dutch, both verbally and in writing.
