Science is not just for scientists. We think it is important to contribute to enthusiasm for science and technology. We enjoy sharing our knowledge with both young people and adults and want to get everyone excited about science. How can we show not only what VITO is doing, but also how science enriches our lives day after day? We do this through science communication and through a host of STEM projects.
STEM projects
What good is knowledge if we don't share it? What good are experts today if we don't warm up young people to become tomorrow's experts? How can we show not only what VITO is doing, but also how science enriches our lives day by day? As VITO, we have made it our mission to share knowledge. We do this through, among other things, a whole range of STEM projects.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It includes courses and professions all related to technology, science and mathematics. You might think of engineers or IT professionals, but STEM is much more than that. Think about:
- 3D printing: This technology is used to make all kinds of products, from prototypes to medical implants, thanks to developments in mechanical engineering and materials science.
- Healthcare: Medication, treatments come from biochemical research and pharmacology.
- Electric bikes and scooters: These means of transport are designed using electrical and mechanical engineering to provide efficient and environmentally friendly mobility.
STEM is all around us and offers countless opportunities to improve the world.
Build a sustainable future in VITOpolis
What does a sustainable future look like? Why is sustainability so urgent and important, and how can technology help? What is VITO doing to achieve this?
