VITO signs greement with the Qatar Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Agricultural Sector

On January 30th we signed an agreement with the Qatar Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Agricultural Sector. The signatory from the Ministry is HE Sheikh Faleh bin Nasser Al-Thani, Assistant Undersecretary of Agricultural Affairs.

We have 3 opportunities under preparation with them:

  • Safety monitoring  of the use of treated sewage effluent for irrigation of fodder crops for livestock production (group Ringtesten and Erkenningen).
  • Artificial recharge of groundwater with treated sewage effluent (VLAKWA).
  • Red weevil monitoring, a beetle pest in palm trees, using remote sensing.

Local food production is an important priority for Qatar. And therefore they need sustainable water management.
