For investors and entrepreneurs
VITO injects knowledge, intellectual property and sustainability into the economy. In doing so, VITO strengthens the Flemish economy, which lies at the heart of VITO’s mission. Technology is commercialised through a technology sale, a licence, a spin-off or a joint venture. Every technology transfer is different, and the process is tailored on a case-by-case basis.
Our spin-offs and licences
New companies are established to bring VITO technology to the market. This is done either by VITO employees or by external entrepreneurs. Are you an entrepreneur? Do you possess specific knowledge of a particular market and believe you can help VITO to commercialise one of its technologies? Then do not hesitate to get in touch! Below you will find more information about our latest spin-offs.
VITO also offers an extensive portfolio of innovations and patents. We transfer know-how related to the technology to your company and grant a licence for the use of the technology and the patents. Both exclusive and non-exclusive licences are available.
ImmuneSpec distinguishes itself through the rapid and reliable identification of immunogenic peptides for the development of next-generation vaccines, cancer therapies, and protein-based medicines. In doing so, VITO creates economic and societal impact through its in-house developed technologies.
De VITO spin-off UniFly is the world’s leading developer and provider of air traffic management systems specifically designed for drones. Such platforms are essential to ensure that drone flights comply with existing airspace regulations, ultimately resulting in an integrated airspace.
Atmospheric plasma technology enables the sustainable application of functional coatings (surface layers). Numerous applications are already established in the plastics and textile industries, ranging from water- and dirt-repellent surfaces to improved adhesion between materials with low compatibility.
Blue Foot provides the critical membrane component and integration expertise to facilitate water reuse in treatment plants for industrial and domestic wastewater.
IFLUX provides solutions to determine the dynamics of groundwater flow and soil contamination. The company does this using innovative measurement technology combined with targeted data analysis. This technology can also contribute to improved nature management and assist in predicting and monitoring droughts.
Sitemark offers companies a new way to collect, analyse, and utilise data from aerial imagery, across one or multiple locations. The Sitemark platform for aerial imagery data provides clients in the energy, construction, and mining sectors with actionable insights about their sites.
Servaco Product Testing specialised in analysing the impact of all possible products and materials on indoor air quality. After all, any material or product used indoors can emit harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
HITA is a young and ambitious company focused on the development of deep geothermal energy. HITA aims to drill more than 1,000 metres deep to harness the Earth's natural heat for district heating networks and electricity production.
Assessing the ecological footprint of construction products usually requires considerable time and effort. However, this is not the case with Enperas' software, the latest digital solution from the spin-off programme through which VITO is helping to make the Flemish economy more sustainable and robust.
Artificial intelligence can significantly accelerate and simplify the detection of serious eye diseases, as demonstrated by MONA with its new eye screening method. The VITO KUL spin-off combines medical research from KU Leuven with state-of-the-art AI techniques developed at VITO.
Product separations today are often energy-intensive and not always optimised for efficiency. A-Membranes provides advanced technology for membrane separations in liquids, which is not only significantly more effective but also energy-efficient and sustainable.
Laser Cladding Venture specialises in laser cladding, a technology that uses a laser to fuse metal powders onto a workpiece. This process enables the application of high-quality coatings that significantly extend the lifespan of mechanical components and offers a unique approach to 3D printing.

Clean Vision Invest
With Clean Vision Invest, one of the greatest challenges faced by very young spin-offs – securing funding – is already addressed. This fund supports young spin-offs during their early development, enabling them to quickly step into economic reality and grow.
Clean Vision Invest is an independent investment vehicle, a separate VITO entity with its own management, that invests in VITO spin-offs. Through this proactive approach, Clean Vision Invest fosters spin-offs built upon VITO’s innovations. In doing so, CVI enhances the financial viability of these spin-offs, ultimately preparing them to secure growth capital from investors or to be taken over.
Clean Vision Invest supports VITO’s valorisation strategy and aims to become a successful enterprise. In 2026, the fund will be evaluated to determine whether it would be appropriate to allow external investors to contribute to investments in sustainable technology.
