The most important reference for energy data in Flanders is the annual energy balance that VITO/EnergyVille publishes for the Flemish region, which includes an inventory of renewable energy and cogeneration (CHP).

The energy balance provides a general overview of energy use and the production of fossil fuels and renewable energy sources in Flanders. The balance is based on emission reports, surveys among businesses and government bodies, and general statistics and models.
