6Rs for SDG 6: Water for Prosperity through Reuse, Recharge, Restore, Rescale, Research and Resilience – ID31
At the UN Water Conference 2026, VITO and its international partners will explore six pathways towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which aims to ensure access to clean water and sanitation for all: Reuse, Recharge, Restore, Rescale, Research and Resilience.
The side event will bring together high-level speakers and representatives from research, public authorities, industry, technology providers, civil society and international water partnerships. They will share practical examples from agriculture, cities, ports, energy systems, wetlands and river basins, including living labs, pilot projects and advanced research infrastructure.
Building on commitments made under the 2023 UN Water Action Agenda, the session will explore how demonstration projects, knowledge exchange, science-policy dialogue, capacity building and investment can help bring safe, circular and climate-resilient water solutions into wider use.
Initiatives such as Water4All's international research and innovation calls, VITO's WaterClimateHub and other water-oriented living labs will illustrate how these ambitions are being put into practice.
