Commissioned by VLAIO and the Flemish Government's Department of Economy, Science, and Innovation, MateriNex facilitates and manages sustainable materials research in Flanders by fostering collaboration between industrial and academic stakeholders. On June 18, MateriNex was officially launched at a start event with more than 150 attendees, along with prominent keynote speakers and nearly 30 pitchers from companies and knowledge institutions.
MateriNex is a new initiative supported by VLAIO and the Flemish Department of Economy, Science and Innovation and coordinated by VITO. MateriNex facilitates and manages sustainable materials research in Flanders and stimulates collaboration between industrial and academic stakeholders.
Within this framework, MateriNex launches an annual call for SBO and ICON projects around three innovation themes. The innovation themes, which are in line with both the EU Research Agenda and Flemish policy priorities, have been selected in consultation with relevant industry and knowledge institutions:
- Materials for battery technology (mobility and storage)
- Materials for building and construction (low-carbon construction and resource efficiency)
- Strategic and critical raw materials (ensuring supply, sustainable and circular value chains)
During the MateriNex launch event, both corporations and research organizations engaged in these three innovation topics with the goal of immediately exploring opportunities for collaboration and joint projects.
Join a MateriNex Common Interest Group (CIG)
A CIG is formed for each MateriNex innovation topic to keep the associated demand-driven roadmap current, share information, showcase project results, and drive innovation and increase impact. As a stakeholder, you are welcome to join a CIG.
