On Sunday 8 September, we welcomed around 150 local residents to our information session about the upcoming 3D seismic survey campaign, which is set to begin this week.

On Sunday 8 September, we invited residents from Mol, Dessel, and Retie to learn more about the geothermal energy project taking place at the former Balmatt site. During the event, held in the conference hall, our geothermal energy experts gave an update on the project’s progress and shared our future plans. This September, seismic trucks will be operating again in Dessel and Mol, and for the first time in Retie. These vehicles will be used to map the deep underground areas surrounding the Balmatt site in Mol.

After the presentations and information market, residents had the opportunity to chat over refreshments. The day ended with a guided tour of the geothermal power plant, which provided many with a unique and interesting look at how this sustainable energy solution works.

We can certainly call it a successful information session, with high engagement and interest from the 150 attendees. We hope local residents are as excited about the future of geothermal energy as we are, and that we’ve been able to ease any concerns, particularly around seismic activity.

Fieldwork will start this week and is expected to finish by the end of October.
