VITO supports the launch of the new children's book "Draakjes kracht tovert pracht" by Sustainable Stories vzw
With the release of the fifth activity book for children, "Dragon's Power Creates Wonders", Sustainable Stories vzw introduces young readers to SDG 12: sustainable consumption and production, in a playful and creative way. This book offers an accessible introduction to the circular economy, focusing not only on knowledge but also on action. Sustainable Stories’ mission is to nurture an entrepreneurial mindset and “skills for the future” in children, such as confidence, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and a focus on sustainability. At VITO, we are thrilled to have once again contributed our expertise and support to this exceptional project.

The mission of Sustainable Stories vzw aligns perfectly with VITO’s vision of a sustainable future. Through beautifully illustrated children's books targeted at kids aged 5 to 10, the organisation makes the sustainable development goals both understandable and tangible. By combining stories, fun facts, and activities, children learn to think about sustainability and consider it in their everyday actions.
The newest book tells the story of a little dragon who seizes opportunities to creatively and persistently transform discarded materials into something valuable. This inspiring tale highlights the core of the circular economy: reducing waste, reusing materials, and creating smart solutions.
‘Draakjes kracht tovert pracht’ is being distributed for free to all schools in Belgium —nearly 5,000 in total. It provides teachers with tools to foster an active mindset focused on sustainability in an engaging way within the classroom.
