VITOpolis in Aarschot: discover how you can make a difference
Following successful events across Flanders, VITOpolis arrived in Aarschot on Friday 24 April. VITO’s interactive pop-up exhibition shows how sustainability can be made concrete and achievable in everyday life.
Previous stops, such as in Sint-Niklaas earlier this year, have already proven that the theme is a hot topic: nearly 2,400 pupils and hundreds of other visitors found their way to our exhibition.
More than 1,000 registrations already
In Aarschot, too, you’ll get hands-on. Design a pair of sustainable trousers in the fashion impact store, discover how waste streams are given new value, and make conscious choices in the shop of tomorrow. You’ll vote on top circular economy tips and, at the same time, learn how the exhibition itself was set up sustainably.
The fact that this approach is appealing is evident from the reactions during the press conference and the strong interest: more than 1,000 pupils have already signed up.
“Aarschot is actually the ideal host city for VITOpolis. We are committed to an ambitious climate policy and continue to build a sustainable future. Under the Local Energy and Climate Pact, we are taking clear steps towards our climate targets in the areas of greening, sustainable energy, mobility and water management. Many of our projects fit perfectly with the VITOpolis vision.”
- Isabelle Dehond, councillor for Climate, Environment and Energy
For schools, families and individual visitors
VITOpolis is aimed at secondary school pupils, but families and individual visitors are also welcome. You can choose between a short session lasting an hour or an hour and a half, or a more extensive half-day programme with additional activities.
The exhibition is open on various weekdays and on three special weekend days: 10 May, 30 May and 13 June. On Saturday 30 May, you can also visit a Repair Café, where you can repair all sorts of items on the spot with the help of experts, if you wish.
You’ll find VITOpolis on Orleansplein in Aarschot. A visit is free and is guaranteed to change the way you look at sustainability.
