The enclosed outdoor space of 18 by 23 metres is large enough for the use of lifting equipment, cherry pickers and scissor lifts. At the centre of the test zone stands a concrete core to build structures onto and set up realistic site scenarios. More details about the equipment of the outdoor lab will follow soon.
The outdoor construction lab can be used independently, but is also highly complementary to our robotics lab: new construction solutions and methods developed there can be tested and validated here in real life.
Alongside the robotics lab, also see our third THOREAQ lab that complements this lab: the identical lab houses.
Discover the possibilities of our outdoor construction lab
Who is this lab for?
- Companies that want to test, optimise and demonstrate construction solutions and processes under realistic site conditions
- Research and development teams (including robotics) that want to test and validate methods, set-ups and workflow safety and efficiency in outdoor practice
What can you use this lab for?
- Testing, fine-tuning and benchmarking automated and traditional construction methods, including robot-assisted applications
- Monitoring and measurement using drones, scanners and sensors
- Testing and optimising (automated) lifting, transport and installation activities with machines within a controlled site environment
- Scaling up innovations from our robotics lab: from proof of concept to practical trial with real-life validation and demonstrations for stakeholders
- Assembling and dismantling temporary structures (up to 11 m high) in various materials to evaluate feasibility
Also see our other THOREAQ labs that strongly complement this lab: the identical lab houses and the robotics lab.
