Do you need professional help to measure air quality and odour? Do you want to monitor the air quality in your city or company with a sensor network? What is the efficiency of your innovative air-purifying technology? VITO can help you track and characterize sources and hotspots.

Measurements

VITO measures air quality, exposure and odour in various environments:

  • indoor air quality in buildings and homes
  • ambient air
  • traffic hotspots
  • workplaces
  • diffuse and stack emissions

The monitoring technology consists of reference instruments and innovative sensor networks, in stationary and mobile applications.

Our state-of-the-art lab infrastructure allows for:

  • efficieny tests of purifying technologies
  • sensor validation
  • gas and particle speciation
  • product emission tests, under accredition certification

Modelling and forecasting

VITO provides modelling solutions as web applications, desktop tools and services to support authorities and professionals in monitoring and managing air quality. ATMOSYS is VITO’s own dashboard. Our applications are used for forecasting pollution episodes and assessing the impact of emission reduction scenarios.

Abatement

If legislation, exposure or risk assessment result in the need for lower air pollutant concentrations, VITO can provide solutions to decrease the concentrations. The feasibility and cost/benefit of possible air remediation solutions are compared.

Chemical compounds and particulate matter

  • UFP, nanoparticles, PM0.1, PM1, PM2.5, PM10
  • (very / semi) volatile organic compounds, flame retardents, dioxins, PCB, phthalates, polyaromatic organic compounds
  • Inorganic compounds; NOX, NO, NO2, SO2, CO, CO2, HF, HCl, H2S,…
  • Heavy metals, sulfur,…
  • Black carbon, sooting
