Launch of the JTF project C-Recycle: Innovation and education in chemical recycling

We are proud to announce the launch of the Just Transition Fund (JTF) project C-Recycle - Centre for Chemical Recycling Education and Research. The project partners focus on the transition from the linear chemical industry to a circular chemical industry in West-North Brabant. Through the development of advanced chemical recycling technologies and comprehensive education and training programmes, we are moving towards a sustainable future.

What is C-Recycle?

C-Recycle is an ambitious initiative aimed at strengthening the regional chemical workforce through education and training. The project includes updating and expanding the curriculum on chemical recycling across various educational levels, offering On-the-Job Training (OJT) for students, job seekers, and employees, and fostering innovation through hands-on research and collaboration between knowledge institutions and companies. Additionally, we aim to share knowledge and experiences with businesses and the general public to raise awareness and acceptance of chemical recycling.

Benefits for companies

For businesses in the region, C-Recycle offers unique opportunities. Innovation managers can benefit from direct access to the latest technologies through collaboration with leading knowledge institutions and use of state-of-the-art laboratories. This enables companies to participate in the development and implementation of innovative chemical recycling techniques such as pyrolysis and solvolysis. Moreover, companies gain access to a pool of highly trained professionals skilled in the latest methods, contributing to talent development within the sector. Participation in exclusive networking events and conferences allows businesses to collaborate with other stakeholders and stay informed about the latest developments. The project also provides extensive support to start-ups and entrepreneurs with innovative ideas, including workshops, pitch competitions, and guidance on business plan development.

Opportunities for students and educators

For students and educators, C-Recycle offers a wide range of opportunities to engage with the future of chemical recycling. Students can benefit from an updated curriculum that integrates the latest developments, with a strong focus on both technology and sustainability. Through On-the-Job Training (OJT) and participation in research projects in laboratories, students gain valuable experience that prepares them for successful careers in green chemistry. Educators and job seekers can participate in research projects, as well as specialised workshops and training to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Join us!

We invite businesses, students, educators, and other interested parties to participate in C-Recycle. Together, we can contribute to a sustainable future and transform the chemical industry. For more information about the C-Recycle project and how to get involved, visit the website mnext.nl.

Consortium

C-Recycle is a project supported by the European Union. Project partners include the Centres of Expertise MNEXT and BWNO from Avans University of Applied Sciences, Agricon Netherlands, Corsair Europe, the Green Chemistry Campus, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, NPSP, Teqtix, Eindhoven University of Technology, and VITO.

VITO will develop and support the education and training of new and existing talent needed for the transition from the linear to the circular chemical industry, focusing on the chemical recycling of plastics for use in a wide range of high-quality products. Additionally, by giving guest lectures, VITO will raise awareness among young people about this topic.

The C-Recycle project has a total budget of €3.5 million and is co-financed by the European Union, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, from the Just Transition Fund.
