Transforming Healthcare With Digital Tools

Due to rising healthcare costs and growing demands from ageing populations, the health services sector is chronically overburdened and underfunded. Digital health tools could drastically diminish the burden for medical professionals. Think of telemedicine solutions, hardware and software for IoT and connected devices, mobile health apps, patient engagement tools, remote patient monitoring (RPM), healthcare analytics and AI, and e-prescriptions like patient medication monitoring. 

The need for accessible, cost-effective health solutions like these has never been greater. However, despite growing evidence that digital health applications can improve care and reduce pressure on healthcare systems, their uptake and scaling across Europe remains limited: many SMEs still struggle to navigate the complex roadmap required for adoption.

Digital Health for All

Europe’s digital health ambition is high, but market access remains fragmented. For SMEs, success depends less on innovation alone and more on navigating national systems, evidence demands, and governance models. That’s why the European Union and Interreg North Sea funded the ‘Digital Health for All’ project (DigiH4A).

This project unites leading health authorities, academic institutions, and innovators to tackle the key challenge of how to get more digital health solutions into European markets and get reimbursed for them. Running van 2024 to 2028, DigiH4A brings together a specialized consortium of 11 European partners from 7 countries: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Norway. 

‘Digital Health for All’ focuses on digital solutions that support chronic care, prevention, early diagnosis, and ageing populations, with the goal of reducing unnecessary hospital visits, easing pressure on healthcare systems, and improving quality of life for patients.

Digital Health Market Access Navigator 

SMEs based in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, or Norway with a digital health product that's commercially available or already in clinical use can participate for free in the project’s Market Access Navigator Programme. In return, they will get a market-ready action plan including a tailored reimbursement pathway plus value-proposition materials for their different stakeholder groups in their preferred North Sea region country. The pilot requires around 8 to 12 hours of participation over a two-month period. 

Applications to join the programme open on 1 September and close on 4 October 2026. Mid-October, the consortium will screen and evaluate all applications and decide on a portfolio. The programme starts in November 2026.
