Sustainable water usage through smart collaborations
Although it’s nature’s liquid gold, huge amounts of water are lost every day. And that’s a shame because the excess water of one company can be the water supply of another. That’s why VITO helps companies and governments look for and shape water-related partnerships.
Isolated actions won’t do
Real water challenges have no borders. In times of frequent flooding and water scarcity, we need to band together. Everyone looking for solutions on their own simply won’t do anymore – we need to take collective action. But a collaboration like that leads to new challenges in terms of regulations, quality control and quality guarantees.
Clarity on all the aspects of a water-related partnership
To get you through these challenges, you can rely on VITO. We will create regional water maps that visualise the supply and demand of rainwater in Flanders. This will allow us to facilitate partnerships between companies that have a large water supply and companies in the area that have a large water demand. We also set up these collaborations, with legal challenges and quality control in mind.
The benefits of a collaboration
Water exchange across property lines holds several benefits:
- Water that would have been lost is put to good use.
- You don’t need to use precious drinking water.
- Less water usage equals lower costs.
- The transition to alternative water resources is better for the environment.
