The establishment of the European Technology and Innovation Platform (ETIP) for Deep Geothermal Energy (DG) has the overarching objective of accelerating the technological development of deep geothermal energy in Europe. It is an open stakeholder group supported by the European Commission within the H2020 programme. The main objective is an overall cost reduction, including social, environmental and technological costs.

Launch

The Platform was launched in 2016, and the stakeholder group (300+) consists of large companies, SMEs, academic and research institutes.

Activities

  • The development of a common long-term vision for Deep Geothermal power generation and heating;
  • The development of a European Strategic Research Agenda for Deep Geothermal Energy for the next decades;
  • Recommendations for the applications of the Strategic Research Agenda through Adapted Technology Roadmap;
  • Contribution to European industry and research to maintain and consolidate its leading position in energy technologies for geothermal energy.
