As an expert in the unit Sustainable Materials Management at VITO, my main field of expertise is in circular economy policy advice for authorities and industry. I work mostly in an international context, diving into what the transition to a circular economy could entail for specific key product value chains, identifying the barriers and enablers to get there, and what policy makers can do to facilitate this transition. Currently, I do this through the coordination of the European Topic Centre on Circular Economy and Resource Use for the European Environment Agency, which supports the further development of the knowledge base on circular economy, waste and resource use, and the status in Europe. Moreover, I'm currently coordinator of a European research project where, together with industry and other research organisations, VITO will investigate system circularity and innovative recycling of textiles in Europe, with a focus on fashion.
