I am a computer scientist specialized in deep learning and data science. I lead a team of 10 deep learning researchers (including PhD and master students) with a focus on automating the analysis of retina images. I have more then 4 years experience with deep learning for image analysis and more then 14 years experience with sensor networks.

I combine data analytics, computer science and application knowledge to realize software applications and technological solutions for our customers and project partners. I keep a broad view on the latest ICT technologies and love to transform research into innovative software applications.

I am active in the health domain, where I and my team create deep learning models to allow automated detection of eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, and increased risks for cardiovascular diseases such as strokes. The results of our work are commercialized in the MONA software. Furthermore, I create sensor networks to monitor air quality in outdoor and indoor environments.
