MicroSync stands for ‘Novel Approaches for Microbial Syngas Conversion to Chemical Building Blocks’. Syngas - a mixture of CO, CO2 and H2 - is produced by several industries or through gasification of biomass and can be a useful feedstock for chemical industry.

The MicroSynC programme aims to develop methods, processes and bioreactors to convert syngas into useful chemical building blocks with micro-organisms. VITO is one of the project participants.
